An innovative way for lawn care service is now in the capital city.
‘Block’ landscaping technology startup is centered around an on-demand lawn-care app.
Homeowners can select the lawn-care services they need, get clear pricing, schedule service and pay, all within the app.
CEO and Founder Matthew Armstrong says the idea came about after seeing his surroundings.
“I started mowing these different lots. I had such a good time doing it, that I asked myself a question, how can I do this on a larger scale,” Armstrong explains.
He then turned to designer Jacob Jolibois for help.
“What our app allows you to do from a lawn care specific perspective is choose exactly the services you want so it’s a-la-carte. You don’t have to get all the services you don’t want,” says Jolibois.
The app doesn’t require a contract to tie consumers to the product.
Nearly 1,000 users have signed up since launching with about 400 users taking advantage of the service.
Armstrong and Jolibois want to encourage eliminating blight in Baton Rouge and sees the app being useful to help combat it.
“We see block as being a corporate partner to help in those efforts, whether it be something we initiate or partnering with local organizations or the city-parish itself,” says Armstrong.
